Veterinarian Overview
Dr. McHugh is a native of Overland Park, Kansas. She established the Lionsgate Pet Hospital in October 2003, and her practice continues to flourish. She has one daughter Sarah, who shares her love of animals. In their spare time, Dr. McHugh and her daughter enjoy training and competing in canine agility with their 2 dogs. Her respect for animals was kindled early in her childhood. The youngest of 8 children, she and her siblings had dogs, cats, horses, and rabbits among other pets. She graduated from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. Early in her career, Dr. McHugh had the opportunity to establish and operate a small animal community practice within the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She also taught preventive medicine and clinical skills to 3rd and 4th year veterinary students. This reinforced her dedication to high quality medicine and surgery which she employs in her practice today. Dr. McHugh is the recipient of the 2004 Veterinary Humanitarian of the Year Award, presented by the Greater Kansas City Humane Society and voted by her clients. She continues her service to the community by supporting service projects for Boy and Girl Scouts, giving tours and seminars, and as a Hospice volunteer.
