Veterinarian Overview
Dr Alan Hallman, did his undergraduate work at the University of Wyoming. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 1985. Dr Hallman opened Star Valley Veterinary Clinic in May of 1985. He has two children, Rand and Sage, and resides in Star Valley Dr Hallman has been a consulting veterinarian for the Payson Humane Society of Central Arizona, the Payson Rodeo, the Payson Zoo, the Payson Natural Resources Committee, and the Arizona Game and Fish Department. He donates his time working on wildlife projects throughout out Arizona and other states. Sled dog medicine is a passion and he has been a trail vet on sled dog races in Alaska and Canada since 1994, including the 1000 mile Yukon Quest International Sled Dog race, the 1000 mile Iditarod, and the Copper Basin 300 sled dog race. He served as the Yukon Quest Head Veterinarian in 1996,1997, and 2011. He is also a life member of the International Sled Dog Medical Association. His involvement with sled dogs has given him a greater appreciation of canine nutrition, bio-mechanics, exercise, physiology, and their tremendous desire to run. Dr. Hallman has given sled dog presentations to many groups including school, civic, and church groups, and in 2011 gave a presentation to the Harvard Travellers Club in Boston. Dr Hallmans personal interests include spending time with his children, hiking, travel, photography and volunteer work.
