Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Nelson graduated with the top of her class at the Oklahoma State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994, where she was a recipient of the Gentle Doctor Award. She went on to a one-year internship at Michigan State University and a two-year residency in internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She received the teaching award for Outstanding Resident in Veterinary Medicine in both small and large animals. She maintains special clinical interests in internal medicine, including endocrinology, infectious disease, and critical care. In the field of oncology, she has particular interest in systemic manifestations of neoplastic disease, radiation therapy, histiocytic disease, and lymphoma. Dr. Nelson actively participates in the world of purebred dogs, including agility, tracking, herding, and conformation. Shelties have been a part of her life for 32 years. She is an avid gardener and baker and especially enjoys spending time with her family.
