Veterinarian Overview
By the time I was five years old, I knew that I wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up. After seeing our familys female vet come out to take care of my horse, I knew it was my calling. I grew up on a farm outside of Edmond, Oklahoma, where we had horses, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, guinea pigs, and fish. For most of my childhood, I was fascinated with horses and wanted to be an equine vet. This remained the case until my first year in vet school. After touring Colorado State University, Texas A&M University, and Oklahoma State University, I decided to go to OSU and become a cowboy. I attended OSU for my undergraduate education in Animal Science and work for both equine and small animal clinics before vet school. I even did an internship with race horses at the Lazy E Arena. After graduating with my bachelor degree, I moved to Tulsa and married my husband, Chris.Throughout vet school, I commuted back and forth from Tulsa to Stillwater and decided that small animal medicine was what I wanted to do. While in vet school, I had the opportunity to work with the Tulsa Humane Society where I adopted my chocolate lab, Phoebe.
