Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Stauffer grew up on a farm in Grand Island, Nebraska, where he was surrounded by animals. He also loved medicine growing up since many members of his family were physicians! Veterinary medicine was the perfect fit for him from a young age. Kent graduated from the University of Nebraska and attended veterinary school at Kansas State University. After owning a clinic and practicing in Nebraska for 10 years, he completed a surgical residency at Mississippi State. He came to Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Care two years ago and is now the clinicÂ’s board-certified surgeon.Being an orthopedic surgeon, says Dr. Stauffer, combines almost all aspects of the veterinary world: medicine, radiology, surgery, and diagnostics! This is what he loves most about his career in veterinary medicine.Dr. Stauffer has a son named Dillon and a daughter named Sydney, both of whom are very active in school sports. The family has three dogs: Bill, Belle, and Missy, as well as two cats named Stevie and Buttons. Kent says that most of his free time is spent with his family or taking the kids to their various obligations. When he has a spare moment, he enjoys taking care of the lawn and working on projects around the house.
